National volleyball championship to begin in April


The National Volleyball Championship’s first round this year is scheduled from April 10-21, the event’s organising board announced on Wednesday.

Group A matches will take place in the northern province of Hai Duong’s Gymnasium, while Group B matches will be held in Gia Lam District’s Gymnasium in Hanoi.

The tournament will see the participation of 10 male teams, including Bien Phong, Long An, The Cong and HCM City, and 10 female teams representing Hai Duong, Vietinbank, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Makado Thai Binh.

The winners and runners-up in each group will earn tickets to compete in the Hung Vuong Cup to be held in the northern province of Phu Tho from April 24-27.

The second round of the championship will be organized from December 25-28.

The event will have a total prize of VND432 million (US$18,780). The best players will be selected for the national team to partake in international matches.
